Edna Jean Yerby, born September 9, 1929 dieed on June 29, 1921 at the Greenbrier at the Altamont in Birmingham, AL. Miss Yerby was born and reared in Berry, AL. She obtained her certification in secretarial training. She worked at First National Bank in Birmingham, where she retired as executive secretary to the president of AmSouth Mortgage, now Regions Bank. Miss Yerby was lifelong member of the Church of Christ, last active in the Palisades Church of Christ.
She is survived by nephews, Phillip W. Yerby Jr. of Leeds, AL., Dr. John E. Crawford of Nashville, Tenn., James B. Alred, Jr. of Graysville, AL. and Richard G. Yerby, Jr.; nieces Judy Alred Clendenin of Adamsville, AL., Carol Yerby Perkins of Graysville, AL., Laura Crawford Green of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Chesney Yerby Moore of Birmingham, AL. She is also survived by several great and great-great nephews and nieces.
Her parent were Berdottie Evans Yerby and John L. Yerby Sr. of Berry, AL Her brothers were Phillip W. Yerby Sr., John L. Yerby Sr., Tolbert Yerby, Granville Yerby and Lloyd Yerby. Her sisters were Edith Yerby Alred, Mildred Yerby Crawford, Gail Yerby Ray and Joyce Yerby Lazaar.
A graveside service and burial will be held on Friday, July 2, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham AL. In lieu of flowers make memorial contributions to Palisades Church of Christ.
