Dorothy was born to William Jefferson Tarence and Dorothy Caroline Brown, February 27, 1925, in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. She was married to Kenneth J. Aldrich December 31, 1957 and they lived together in Birmingham, Alabama where they raised their family and where she retired.
She was preceded in death by Kenneth J. Aldrich (husband), William Jefferson Tarence (father), Dorothy Caroline Brown (mother), Bertis Tarence (brother), Curvis Tarence (brother), Evas Tarence (brother), Elbert Tarence (brother), John Riley Tarence (brother), Mary Elizabeth Parker (sister), William Bertis Walker (son).
She leaves as her legacy three children: Deborah Aldrich, Kenneth Ronald Aldrich (Alicia), and Ann Lee. She leaves to cherish her memory four grandchildren: Holly Hollis (Christopher), Kenneth Joel Aldrich, Justin Walker (Jessica), Caitlin Myers (Aaron) and four great grandchildren: Isabella Mae Hollis, Fitzgerald Hollis, Jasmine Walker, Jackson (JB) Walker. She also leaves close family: Jennie Inez Simpson (niece), Barbara Walker (daughter in law).
Many remember her as Mother, Aunt Mae, Granny and Mae. She loved working and worked until the age of 68. After retiring, she continued to serve and volunteer her time greatly within her community until the age of 89. She was committed to the Lord and loved her church, Lakewood Baptist Church, where she held her membership since 1957. She was at many dance recitals, baseball games, graduations and more for her grandchildren. She carried that same love and excitement for her great grandchildren until her uniting with the Lord. She loved many and loved them well.
Services will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel at 1:00 PM with visitation beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville. Chris Hollis will officiate services.
