Donald Braxton Hammond

Donald Braxton Hammond, age 83 of Chelsea, Alabama, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 25, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents Euel Braxton Hammond and Bessie Lee Hammond, a son James B. Hammond, and two grandsons. Don is survived by his loving wife of 33 years Shirley Ulch Hammond, three daughters Donna Jean Mann, Janet Lynn Karolchyk (Wayne), and Patricia Gaye Swenson (Arthur) Sisters Judy Adams(Braxton) and Suzanne Cobb (David); and brother Michael Hammond (Alice); grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Don grew up attending the Birmingham Gospel Tabernacle under the ministry of Dr. Glenn V. Tingley. He attended Phillips High and graduated from Bessemer Tech College. Other than managing several restaurants, he worked as a service technician for Royal Cup Coffee Company. When they lived in Birmingham, he and Shirley were members of Glen Iris Baptist Church and have continued to enjoy and support WGIB.

A memorial service will be held at Glen Iris Baptist Church on Saturday, October 31, 2020 Pastor Chris Lamb officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to Glen Iris Baptist Ministries.
