Diane Blake Ferguson, 79, of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, slipped quietly and peacefully away at home, June 28th, 2020, after a lengthy illness. Diane was a member of the Vestavia Church of Christ for many years. She lived in Birmingham most of her life, graduating from West End High School in 1958. She attended Marshall University in West Virginia, where she graduated in 1976 with a Bachelor of Arts, later returning to Birmingham. Diane is affectionately remembered for her kindness, compassion, wonderful sense of humor, her love of animals, especially her cats, and a deep and abiding love for her family and friends. She was the devoted and loving wife of Joseph Warren Ferguson, whom she married in 1992. Her parents, Dalton O. Blake, Sr. and Nell Blake, predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her brother, Dalton Owen Blake, Jr. She is survived by her sister, Rebecca C. Blake; a niece, Stephanie Blake Nettles & her husband, Derek, and their children, Elliana & Eian Nettles; nephew, D. Owen Blake III & his wife, Jessica, their children, Mila & Sara Blake; nephew, Jarrod Blake, and his son, Ryan William Blake. She will be greatly missed and sweetly remembered by her many friends and relatives. A Graveside Service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery, Birmingham, AL. July 2nd, at 2 PM, with Jabo Waggoner officiating. Honorary pallbearers will include Owen Blake, III, Jarrod Blake, Jody Ferguson, and Scott Carpenter. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Humane Shelter of your choice, or the American Cancer Society.
