Denny Lee Hicks, age 51, of Birmingham, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2023. Denny was a kind, loving, joking person. He loved all children. He was Godfather to several. He especially loved his great niece Sophia Shaw and great nephew Carter Shaw. Denny loved his dogs, Bunny and Lucky. His idea of fun was fishing and helping others.

Denny played football at Tarrant High School where he graduated. He attended Auburn and was a huge Auburn fan.

Denny was an accomplished licensed mortgage broker, auto sales manager, and self-employed logistical agent for Transgistics.

He is survived by his father, Calvin Shelnut; his mother, Pat Hicks Shelnut; his sister, Janet Lang (Mark); nieces, Mandy Shaw (Murray), Taylor Lang (Rachel), Sydney Lang (Joshua), Lexi Lang, Peyton Lang, and many, many cousins and friends.

A visitation for Denny will be held Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Ridout's Trussville Chapel, 1500 Gadsden Hwy, Birmingham, AL 35235, followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Salvation Army in Denny's name.
