David and his family moved to Birmingham, Alabama when he was 13. David graduated from Ramsey High School in 1960. He married Diane, the love of his life on June 9, 1961, they were married for 58 years.
David, his wife and children traveled around doing a puppet ministry in the 1970’s. David also owned his own vending business having many accounts in the Birmingham area. He loved being around his family and had a passion for the sport of bowling. From the late 1970’s up until he passed away, he bowled league at Vestavia Bowl. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and loved Alabama football. Above everything he loved the Lord and served him daily. He was one of a kind and will be remembered by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles Francis Atwater Sr. and Lillian Murray Atwater; and his beautiful loving wife Diane Robertson Atwater.
David will be remembered by his children Ken Atwater, Laurie Kerklin and Marty Atwater. His brother, Charles Atwater Jr. (Jan). His Grandchildren Rebecca Bryant (Tim), Melanie Keener (Jonathan), Katie Keener and Amanda Alverson: Great Grandchildren Joshua Bryant, Caden David Bryant and Everett Polzin.
A visitation for David will be held Tuesday, May 30, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Johns-Ridout's Mortuary-Elmwood Chapel, 800 Dennison Ave Sw, Birmingham, AL 35211. A celebration of life will occur Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Elmwood Cemetery & Mausoleum, 600 Martin Luther King Jr Dr, Birmingham, AL 35211. A committal service will occur Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Elmwood Cemetery & Mausoleum, 600 Martin Luther King Jr Dr, Birmingham, AL 35211.
