CLAYTON “CLAY” D. SHARP III, age 44 of Irondale, passed away on Monday, July 5, 2021. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marvin and Ethel Nabors, and Clayton and Wanda Sharp. He is survived by his parents, David and Judy Sharp; sister, Shannon Minor (Kyle); nieces, Hannah Minor, Madalyn Minor, Kelsey Minor and Hailey Minor; aunts, Pat Johnston (David), Sharon Harris (Richard), Libba Ellison (Daryl) and Linda Woodham (Jimmy); and many cousins and friends. Clay was a lifelong member of Avondale United Methodist Church. In his youth, he was a member of the Boy Scouts Troop 30 where he earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He also spent summers at Camp Sumatanga where he returned after high school to serve on staff as a lifeguard. Clay graduated from Shades Valley High School and attended Bessemer State Technical College where he studied electronics and he continued to pursue his love of electronics by repairing devices for friends and family. He studied and earned his journeyman certification in both plumbing and gas fitting; and worked in that field for many years. Clay was a kind and gentle soul to everyone and every animal he met. He had a special place in his heart for his rescue cocker spaniel, D.O.G. His family will celebrate his life with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at Avondale United Methodist Church with a memorial service beginning at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Camp Sumatanga or the Humane Society.
