Claude Earl Massey

MASSEY, CLAUDE EARL, age 88 of Trussville, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 2, 2022. He was preceded in death by his brothers, William “Bo” Massey, George Massey and Bobby Brown. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carol Lancaster Massey; son, Richard Massey (Tracey); daughter, Sandra Massey Turner (Steve); grandchildren, Kristen Massey Park (Blake), Holly Nichols Batusic, Stephan Nichols (Rachel), Nelan Massey (Rachel), Alexandra Turner and Chad Turner; and 7 great-grandchildren. After graduating from Hewitt-Trussville High School, he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Earl was a longtime member and deacon of Deerfoot Baptist Church. He retired from the City of Birmingham as a Supervisor in Street and Sanitation. Earl was passionate about history and served as the Chairman of the Trussville Historical Board and was the author of several books including Trussville Through the Years. His family will celebrate his life with visitation on Saturday, August 6, 2022 from 9:30 – 11:00 AM at Deerfoot Baptist Church with his service beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Massey Cemetery.
