Beloved father, husband, son, brother and friend Christian André Breaux died peacefully on Friday, June 21, 2019. The fourth of four children, Chris was born in New Orleans in 1969, to parents Ann and Charles Breaux. He grew up in Mountain Brook, Alabama, proudly graduating from the University of Alabama with a degree in computer science. During high school and college, some of Chris’s happiest times were playing in their marching bands’ percussion sections. Throughout his career, Chris worked as a programmer and IT specialist at a succession of software companies, including Communix, TSW, Indus, Ventyx, and Trinoor.
Chris married Patricia Engelke, and they were delighted to welcome two children into their family, Laura and Christian Jr. His greatest joys were the achievements of his children as they have grown into successful college students at Kennesaw State University.
Chris also delighted in cooking and in the company of family and friends. Our family is forever grateful to him for compiling the definitive Breaux family cookbooks. Some of our favorite times were at crawfish boils, oyster shucks, gumbo cookoffs, and crab claw suppers, plus always the annual oyster stew at our family Christmas party. And who can forget all the gatherings at the lake and beach, the best ones involving boxes and boxes of fireworks?
Under his gruff exterior, Chris was tender-hearted and would help anyone in need. He especially valued working with the horses, clients, and staff of Heaven’s Gait Therapeutic Riding. Beyond that single horsepower, you could often find him working on and enjoying the hefty horsepower of his classic and modern Corvettes.
Chris was preceded in death by his cherished parents Ann and Charles. He is survived by wife Patricia; the most precious parts of his life, daughter Laura and son Christian; brothers Charles Jr. (wife Robbie) and Stan (wife Mariya); sister Ann-Marie; nephews Paul, Sean, Steven, Christopher, and Nicholas; along with a host of in-laws, cousins, and extended family, all broken-hearted to lose him this soon.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Heaven’s Gate Therapeutic Riding (http://www.hgtrinc.com/), or Classic Glass Corvette Club (http://www.cgcorvetteclub.com/Contact_Us.htm), or to a charity of your choice in Chris’s name.
Visitation will be held Saturday, June 29, 10-11 am, followed immediately by a funeral at Ridout’s Valley Chapel, 1800 Oxmoor Road, Homewood, AL 35209.
