Charlotte Marie Chambers Zarzaur, age 76, passed away February 4, 2021. Charlotte was born on December 15, 1944 in Cullman, Alabama to Nolan Chambers and Evelyn Chambers Sanders Alsbrooks. She is preceded in death by her parents as well as her two stepfathers (Joe Sanders and Claude Alsbrooks). She is survived by her three children, Ben Louis Zarzaur, Jr. (Stephanie), Wendy Zarzaur Johnston (James) and Jason Patrick Zarzaur (Christy), her sister, Ann Chambers Reynolds (Bill) and her two brothers, William Douglas Chambers and Timothy Wayne Chambers (Mary), 7 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Charlotte was an intrepid traveler. She enjoyed trips to visit family and friends, summers long trips to the panhandle of Florida with family, tours up the East Coast with her children, and travel overseas. Every trip was an adventure and memorable, as her love of travel, art and history was passed along to her children. Charlotte was a graduate of the University of Alabama and worked several jobs over the years, however as her children were growing, she spent most of her time caring for them. As her children grew and left the house, Ms. Zarzaur worked in areas where she had passion. Her love of travel led to working as a travel agent. Her love of art and history led to work in antiques and art shops around Birmingham. Her compassion for others, led her to serve her faith in the Catholic Church as an assistant to the church and as a member of the St. Elias Ladies Altar Society. Most of all, Charlotte loved her grandchildren which included sewing special garments for them, including christening gowns and first communion dresses.
She will be laid to rest at the Columbarium at St. Elias Maronite Catholic Church in Birmingham, Alabama on February, 19, 2021 at 10am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in her name to Alzheimer’s of Central Alabama or St. Elias Maronite Catholic Church.
