Barrett, Charles Emery ”Charlie” , age 90, went home to be with his Lord on Thursday, March 15, 2012. He was born in Oneonta, Al on June 8, 1921 to Ruby Argo and Ninus F. Barrett. Charlie was a faithful member of Third Presbyterian Church for 58 years. He worked in the Aviation field for more than 50 years. He was a devoted husband to his loving wife of over 71 years, Ruth Smith Barrett; He also was a wonderful and loving Dad and Papaw to his daughter, Charlotte Barrett Vines (Gerald, Sr.), his son, David M. Barrett, Sr. (Pattie); A grandson, Gerald Loel “Jerry” Vines, Jr.; Great grandchildren, Allyson N. Vines Keene(Mikey), David M. “Buddy” Barrett, Jr., Adrianna M. Barrett, Elizabeth N, Sarah L., and Bryan D. Frazier; 3 great great granddaughters, Emalee “Emme” Keene- who always had lots of fun with Papaw, Tanieya and Maleya Nelms; A special cousin Doyle Argo of Dayton, Tn., and many nieces and nephews. Charlie was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Argo and his father Ninus F. Barrett, his sister, Ruby Pauline “Polly” Barrett Lake; and his youngest daughter, Shirley Barrett Maltz.
Charlie will be greatly missed by his loving and devoted wife. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. His family would like to thank Dr. Robert Bryant and Dr. Harold Settle for their excellent care. Also, many thanks to Oasis Hospice, for their loving care during his illness, and especially Pam Whitten, for being there with us during Charlie’s final hours. In leiu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Third Presbyterian Church, Oasis Hospice in Moody, Al, or to your favorite charity.
Visitation will be Monday, March 19, 2012, at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel from 11 AM until 12:30 PM with graveside services following at Forest Hill Cemetery at 1:00 PM. Rev. Richard C. Trucks will officiate the service.
