

Cecilia Laurie Mayo Bean, 54, passed away on November 9, 2023, surrounded by family. Laurie leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband, Matthew D. Bean; children, Blake Bean, Mallory Phillips (Logan), and Andrew Bean; mother, Donna Garner Mayo; brother, Jason Mayo (Sarah); niece and nephew, Emily Mayo and Evan Mayo.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lamar Mayo; maternal grandparents, Nadine and T. R. Garner; paternal grandparents, Jewel Mayo Chambers and Roy Cecil Mayo.
Laurie attended and graduated from John Carroll Catholic High School in 1987, and from the University of South Alabama in 1992, where she was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. She loved her family, who, along with her dogs, brought her joy and happiness all the way to the end. She was also an accomplished pianist and singer, and her enjoyment of cooking led her to create many tasty dishes. Laurie’s love for the beach, and the mountains of Gatlinburg, made both favorite destinations; even simple car rides brought her many special and happy times. She and Matt, were co-owners of Priority Packaging, and members of Union Hill Baptist Church in Oneonta, AL.
A memorial service will be held Friday, November 17, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Elmwood Chapel Funeral Home, Birmingham, AL. Visitation is at 10 a.m. Pastor Paul Richey officiating.
The family would like to thank all friends for their support and kindness during Laurie’s illness and passing. Her husband’s kind and devoted attention to her care will never be forgotten. Special thanks and appreciation is expressed to Woodland Village Rehab and Healthcare Center, Cullman, AL, and the wonderful staff who cared for Laurie during her short stay.
