Carrie Elaine Mason

Carrie Elaine Walsingham Mason, 88, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 24, 2021 after a long illness of Alzheimer's. She died peacefully at home with her family by her side. She was born February 13, 1933 in Eastlake, Alabama. She met the love of her life Spence Mason in 1951 who lived in Sandusky and they had a long distance romance at a time when cars were few. After graduating from Woodlawn High School, she married the love of her life and lived happily for 56 years where they raised their four children in a loving home. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years Euel E. (Spence) Mason, her parents, John and Fannie Lou Walsingham and her sister, Johnnie Mae Goode. She is survived by her children, David Mason (Karen) of Plano, TX, Steve Mason (Wendy) of Birmingham, AL, Doug Mason of Birmingham, AL and her loving daughter, Linda Mason of Birmingham, AL who has been her caregiver during her illness. Grandchildren, Brian (Abby) Mason, Brad Mason (Kaylin), Kara Mason, Grant Mason, Mackenzie Mason and Jacob Mason. Great-grandchildren Will and John Mason.

She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother.

She was a member of Sandusky United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, member of the Methodist Women's Madonnas and also served on the Missions Committee.

Elaine was a Godly woman with a genuine kindness and love for everyone. She will be greatly missed by all.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 from 1:00 until 2:00pm at Elmwood Chapel Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm following visitation with burial to follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
