Carolyn B. Whatley, age 87, of Clay, Alabama entered into the presence of Jesus on April 29, 2022. Carolyn was born on December 22, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Cora Bradley. Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband Auther (Art) Whatley, Eddie Whatley (son), Matthew Whatley (grandson), along with 4 brothers and 2 sisters. She was called Mom, Mama, Grandmommy, Gmommy, Mamommy, Tootsie, and Carolyn. She was a person with unique, God-given talents and abilities. The perfect example of a Proverbs 31 woman. She touched many lives around her, putting others' needs and wants before her own. She was a hard worker at anything she did and never backed down from a challenge. She worked in her garden growing the biggest vegetables and the most beautiful flowers. Other time was spent playing piano, challenging anyone to chinese checkers, sewing, fishing, going on trips, and eating crab legs. The time she treasured most was with her family, especially at Christmas when her joy shined in every gift she gave. Her love and spunky self will be missed. She is survived by her sister: Janice Smith (J.D.); her daughter: Tammy Hardin (Butch); her son: Mikel Whatley; her grandchildren: Casie Bailey (Jeff), Courtney Boatwright (Wesley), Brooke Higginbotham (Trent), Andrew Whatley, Christopher Whatley and their mother Debbie Whatley; her great-grandchildren: Ethan, Carissa, Ella, and Josie Bailey, Will and Connor Boatwright; and a host of nieces and nephews. A celebration of life for Carolyn will be held Monday, May 2, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Ridout‘s Trussville Chapel, 1500 Gadsden Hwy, Birmingham, AL 35235. A funeral service officiated by her great-nephew, Craig Little, will occur Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Ridout‘s Trussville Chapel.
