Carl Leonce Hagood Jr.

Carl Leonce Hagood Jr, age 77, of Pinson, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at his home in Pinson, Alabama, surrounded by his loving family and caring friends. He was a kind and loving man. Carl loved his family and the church. He was social, friendly, and always willing to help a needy neighbor, no matter the task. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

He was born on May 3, 1946, in Birmingham, AL, to the late Carl and Margaret Hagood. Carl enlisted in the Air Force from 1967 to 1971, serving his country by working on radio communication equipment. He worked as a master plumber from 1971 to 1986. In 1986, he took over the family business, Carl Hagood General Merchandise, which he ran until he retired in 2007. Carl was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Pinson and accepted the Lord as his savior as a young adult.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Donna Hagood and Linda Hagood Henley. Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Mary Hagood; his sons, Adam (Kayla) and Kevin Hagood (Amie); his grandchildren, Austin Williams (Hailee); Hunter Williams (Morgan); Whitney Hagood Smith (Jack), and Chase Hagood, and great-grandson, Kyle Williams.

Visitation for Carl will be held at Pinson First Baptist Church, 4036 Spring Street, Pinson, AL 35126, on Sunday, January 7, 2024, from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM for family and 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM, followed by a funeral service at 3:30 PM. Burial will be at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are Ronnie Gilley, Wendell Melvin, Austin Williams, Hunter Williams, Mark Tolleson and Jack Smith, with Whitney Hagood Smith as honorary pallbearer.
