moved to Homewood AL as a child. He attended Shades Cahaba Elementary, Homewood
Middle School and Shades Valley High School where he wrestled and played football. He then attended Marion Institute and
later served as a deputy with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department. Calvin made a career
in industrial piping sales, working with US Steel, Moore Handley, American Pipe and Supply,
before forming his own business American Piping Components.
With his friendly disposition and generous heart, Calvin made many friends along the way. A
simple and humble man, he had numerous hobbies and interests including a passion for
cooking, canoeing, kayaking and fishing. He is remembered for coaching T-ball and running the
concession stands at West Homewood Ball Park. He was a member of Third Presbyterian
Church and the Caledonia Scottish Society.
Calvin was preceded in death by his father, Calvin Argyll Campbell, Sr. his mother Louise
Bishop Campbell and Kathy Smith Campbell. He leaves behind four children: Catherine O’Hare (Peter), Cindy Kelley
(Casey), Benjamin Campbell (Caroline) and Jessica Morris. His most proud accomplishments
are his ten grandchildren: Amelia, Manus and Isabella O’Hare; Connor Kelly; Emma, Sara,
Jonathan and Andrew Campbell; Abby and Hattie Grace Morris.
Calvin’s ashes will be interred June 6, 2020 with his parents ashes in the Memory Garden at All
Saints Episcopal Church in Homewood with a private family gathering. The ceremony will be
available on Facebook live. Calvin had a special love for Alabama's lakes, rivers and streams.
Donations can be made in his memory to the Cahaba River Society.
