William E. K. Rabb Sr., of Birmingham, AL, passed away on May 22, 2018. He is survived by his wife, Grace Ann Moon Rabb; son, William E. K. Rabb, Jr. (Beth) of Hartselle, AL; daughter, Lili Amanda Klimko, (Ben) of Trussville, AL; and Alison Rabb Davenport, (Jim) of Orange Beach, AL. He was Grandda to Nancarrow Rabb McClendon (Tim), William Kelly Rabb, III (Rachel), Calloway Rabb (Mica), Lili Lydon Kane (Brandon), and GrandDod to Austin Davenport.
In addition, he is also survived by his nine living great-grandchildren: Grace and Cole McClendon, Will, Cooper, and Jake Rabb, Miller, Mallory and Milan Rabb, Nora Kane, as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
Mr. Rabb, was a Christian, a husband of 68 years to his wife, Ann, a father, a veteran, and a respected part of the construction industry in Alabama and the Southeastern United States. He is preceded in death by his father, Roland Stuart Rabb, his mother, Lili Vaughan Rabb, his brother, Roland R. Rabb and great granddaughter, Kayleigh Blair McClendon.
His employment history includes many years as a sales engineer and estimator for Bonitz Engineering of Alabama, Vice-President of Sales with Acousti Engineering of Alabama, and completing his career with Southern Roof Decks of Alabama.
Prior to retirement, Mr. Rabb, his son and grandsons were inducted into the Sons of the American Revolution. He was active in several civic organizations: Bluff Park Lions Club, Hoover Lions Club, the Producers Council of Alabama, the Birmingham Alabama Chapter of the Association of General Contractors, and Cisco. He served in various leadership/participatory roles in each. He was a 40 year member of the Hoover Country Club, where he enjoyed golf and hosting family as his pastime. He served as soloist under the direction of Miss Minny Carr, choir director of Independent Presbyterian Church of Birmingham, AL. As a veteran, he served in the 106th Air National Guard wing during the Korean conflict.
Mr Rabb attended Bluff Park United Methodist Church, with his wife Ann, until his death. As a man, he enjoyed his work, socializing with friends, family, and helping others less fortunate than himself, having insured many children Christmas gifts they would not have received had he not intervened. He loved having dinner at the Bright Star Restaurant in Bessemer, The Hoover Country Club, and going to Bogues for Breakfast or lunch while at work. His friends found him there regularly having a glass of tea on a break. In later years, his favorite time was spent with friends at the Waffle House in Hoover, talking and enjoying the company of his friends. He is loved, and will be missed by his family and those that knew him.
Memorial service will be at Bluff Park United Methodist Church on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 1 pm. Mr. Rabb will be laid to rest that morning in a private service at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo with military honors.
