Marjorie Beatrice Seymer Wright (Bea), age 93, passed away peacefully at her home on September 12, 2024. She was born December 28, 1930 in Pickens County, Alabama to Joseph Ura Seymer, Sr. and Nina Beatrice Cosper Seymer. Bea lived a life full of love, grace, and dedication.
Beatrice was married to her devoted husband, James Douglas Wright, for 69 years. When her husband was drafted in the military during the Korean War, Beatrice followed him to California, where they lived for several years. After their time in California, the couple returned to their roots in Birmingham, Alabama. They eventually retired in Leeds, Alabama, where they enjoyed a peaceful and fulfilling retirement. Mrs. Wright was a long time employee of Bob Watkins Realty and was a member of Leeds First Methodist Church.
Beatrice is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Joseph Seymer, Jr. and James Franklin Seymer; sister, Gloria Ann Seymer; sister-in-law, Celetha Seymer; two nieces, Cynthia Lynn Seymer and Mershon Wright; and three nephews, Thomas Russell Seymer, Ronald Bagwell, and Jerry Wright Bagwell. She is survived by her brother Tom (Emily) Seymer of Aberdeen, Mississippi; sisters, Nelda Gay Seymer (Jimmy) Plowman of DeFuniak Springs, Florida and Harriet Seymer of Tupelo, Mississippi; sister-in-law, Marguerite Seymer of Aliceville, niece Reta Goolsby Bagwell of Irondale, Alabama; nephews Miles (Judy) Wright of Ringgold, Georgia; Hillary (Deb) Wright of Atlanta, Georgia; and a host of other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many loving friends and family members.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Beatrice's caregivers and the team at Family Private Care (especially Ginger Amouie) for their support and compassion. Their dedication made a significant difference in her final years and is deeply appreciated. A very special thank you goes to Dalaphene Hunt, LaKeisha Presley, and Michelle Smith who spent many hours getting to know Ms. Bea and made sure she was happy and comfortable in her home.
Bea was an intelligent, beautiful, and strong woman. She was a source of unwavering support for her family and made a lasting impression on all that met her. Her beautiful smile and incredible spirit will be deeply missed.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, September 20th from 1 – 2 pm at Johns-Ridouts Elmwood Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 2 pm at Elmwood Cemetery. Reverend Chris Stallings officiating.
