Barbara Jean “Bobbie” Martin, 77, of Trussville, Alabama went home to the Lord on November 17, 2018. Bobbie, also affectionately known as “Bob”, “Barbara Jean”, “Little Granny”, and “Granny Martin”, was born in Clay, Alabama on June 14, 1941 to Clarence M. and Mary (Simmons) Elliott. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.
Bobbie was preceded in passing by her parents; her husband of 22 years, Dale Martin; her brother, Charles Elliott; and her sister, Mary Alice Graves.
She is survived by her children Tim Martin, Jeff Martin (Dawn), Stephanie Bridges (Tim), Debbie Brown (Raymond), Pam Melvin (Burt), Mack Martin (Becky), and Nick Martin (Melidien); brother Don Elliott (Fern); sisters Susan Skinner (Wayne) and Myra Perry; 18 grandchildren; 24 great- grandchildren; and many other relatives and close friends.
Bobbie was known for her caring and compassionate spirit. She took care of everyone and everything, and did such with a joyful heart. Bobbie was a licensed beautician and also worked at a nursing home caring for the elderly. She loved her church, Clay Baptist, and loved spending time there. Bobbie also enjoyed gardening, crocheting, listening to country classics, and caring for those in her neighborhood. She will be deeply missed, but never forgotten, by all who knew and loved her. The lives and hearts she touched with her giving remain as her legacy.
Visitation will be held Saturday, December 1 from 12 - 2 PM at Ridout’s Trussville Chapel, 1500 Gadsden Hwy, Birmingham, AL 35235. Service officiated by Pastor Rick Hinkle will follow at 2 PM. Burial at Mt Olive Cemetery, Trussville, AL.
