Ann B. Alexander

Ann passed away Friday, May 17, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Slaton Alexander and her parents, Charles and Hazel Braswell. She is survived by her children, Chuck Alexander (Lisa), Dede Nesmith (Nick) and Linda Downing (Danny), Her grandchildren, Lindsay Alexander, Whitney Lankford (Drew), Peyton Nesmith, Haley Patton (Michael), Carole Ann Downing, Merry Emily Thiel (Jonathan), Hannah Kate Huebner (Grant), and Luke Downing (Rachel), great-grandchildren, Averley, Slaton, Pandora, Hazel, and Davey, siblings, Dan Braswell (Daisy), Sandra Parker (Franklin), and Chip Braswell (Glenda) and many nieces and nephews.

Ann was born in Birmingham, AL, and attended Auburn University where she was a member of Phi Mu sorority. She was a long-time member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. Ann loved taking care of her children and grandchildren. She was a gifted cook, seamstress and artist.

Ann’s family would like to thank the staff of Briar Glen Alzheimer's Special Care Center who have loved and taken care of her for the past five years and Oasis Hospice who has been providing care for the past two years.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 20, 2024, at 1pm followed by a funeral at 2PM at Johns-Ridout's Mortuary Elmwood Chapel. Memorials may be made to Dawson Music Ministry or Dawson Building Fund, 1114 Oxmoor Road, Birmingham, AL 35209.
