JORDAN, RUTH Ruth Jordan, a native of Birmingham, Alabama, was born in Woodlawn on October 28, 1921. During her life she lived in Ensley Highlands, Fairfield, and Vestavia Hills. Ruth had eight brothers and sisters, surviving all but two, Paul Beech of St. Petersburg, Florida and Sadie Herring of Birmingham, Alabama. She also outlived her husband, Russell J. Jordan by thirty years and her only son, Russell Wayne Jordan by four years. Ruth had only one daughter and caretaker, Nancy Ruth Bachofer. She attended Woodlawn Schools, but had to leave at age fifteen to work as a waitress and help support her parent's family of nine children. She loved being a mother and a homemaker. Until the age eighty-three she was able to maintain her home and her yard herself. After the death of her husband in 1981, Ruth made a profession of faith to accept Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord. For the last twenty years she enjoyed being a member of Briarwood Presbyterian Church and worshipping God There. Ruth Jordan's home-going celebration will be Saturday, September 24 at Johns Ridout's Elmwood Chapel. Visitation will be at 10 am with the funeral at 11:00 am..
