Norma Manning peacefully passed from this life to the next on January 15, 2022 at the age of 82. She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond, her best friend and daughter, Ruth Lynn Fiato, sister Marilyn Cooke, brother Dale Fisher, brothers-in-law Bill Cooke and Guy Manning, sister-in-law Catherine Bowman, niece Patricia Cooke, nephews Ron Cooke, Joe Fisher, Christopher and Tommy Ciotoli, Jacob Rommel, Tim Manning, and grandson Henry Manning.
She is survived by her sisters-in-law Barbara Fisher and Donna Manning, brother-in-law Jim Manning (Betsy), her sons Lowell (Becky), Ralph, Keith (Amy), Todd (Jodie), Raymond, and Norman Richard, her grandchildren Cody, Andrew, Kelly, Ryan, Sam, Taylor, Haley, Trevor, and her great-granddaughter Flora Ray, her nieces Kathy Jones (Duane) and Sharon Gana (Joe), helpful friend Pat Gallo, her work friends and church friends, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Norma was proud of her rural roots, having grown up on her parents’ farm in Lynn, PA. Norma graduated from Elk Lake High School in 1957, Scranton Lackawanna Business College in 1958, and entered the workforce, her first job being at the First National Bank of Meshoppen. She married, moved to the Binghamton area, and worked in the banking industry until 1969, when she decided to stay home to raise her family. In addition to raising seven children, she also served as a grade parent, volunteered for many years in the Chenango Valley Pre-K program, and was a major supporter of Chenango Valley wrestling, as well as supporting her children in all their extracurricular activities. She re-entered the workforce in 1988, working at Endicott Trust and M & T Bank until her retirement in 2015. She was a 40 plus year member of Ogden-Hillcrest UMC, where she served on various committees and sang in the choir. She was also a member of the Kattelville Seniors. Norma was a devoted wife and mother, who put her family before herself, and lived her life guided by conscience, faith, practicality, and humility. She was kind, patient and good humored. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
The family will receive friends at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson on Friday, February 4, 2022 from 4-7 pm. A memorial service will be held on February 5 at Ogden-Hillcrest UMC at 9:30 am, 1061 Chenango Street, Binghamton, followed by the burial at Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City.
