Nancy Ryan

Nancy L. Ryan, 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, 9 October 2021 at Elizabeth Church Manor in Binghamton, N.Y. Nancy was born on 14 January 1936 in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania to the late Marcus & Alice (York) Purkiss. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 55 years Gerald “Jerry” Ryan and her sister Barbara Gabel. She is survived by her daughter Vickiann Chard, son Marc T. Ryan; grandchildren Meghan Sledge and Garrett Ryan; great granddaughter Adlley Jewell Ryan; her brother & sister-in-law Haydn and Lynn Purkiss; her sister-in-law Alma Ryan, and several nieces and nephews. Nancy was a graduate of Binghamton Central High school. She retired after 25 plus years of service from the Binghamton Psychiatric Center, where she served as a food service worker. Nancy was a lifelong member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Post 1645, Binghamton, where she held various positions. Nancy was a selfless wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will always be remembered as rooting for the Navy to beat Army in the annual match up. The family would like to send a very special thank you to the staff at both St. Louise and Elizabeth Church Manors, especially the staff on Unit 1.

The family will receive visitors at Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson, N.Y. 13901 on Friday, 15 October 2021 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM, followed by a private burial at Vestal Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to United Methodist Homes Elizabeth Church Campus in memory of Nancy L. Ryan.
