It is with great sadness we accept the passing of our Beloved Mother, Grandmother and Aunt, Helen Solomon on March 5, 2012, while being surrounded by her family. She joins her husband, John Solomon; parents Louis and Clara Montone; sisters, Theresa, Angie, Rose, and Marie; brothers, Sebastian, Frank and Louis. She leaves behind her loving daughter, Laurie Weaver, Binghamton; granddaughter, Kristin (Jim) Goodloe, Hoboken, NJ, who was the pride and joy of Helen’s life; brother, Joseph Montone, Binghamton; sister-in-law, Ann Solomon, Johnson City, NY; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, whom all had the benefit of being treated like her grandchildren; special people who touched her life with love, caring and kindness, niece Roseann Dellapenna and family Mark (Nellie), Christina (Bill), AnnMarie (Thomas), Thomas Jr. (Diane); nephew, Bill Fusco (Sharon); niece, Maria Mathias; and dear and loyal friends, Fran Williams, Rita Radicchi, Rose Hawke and Margaret Mack, whom she considered a second daughter; also, Scott, Theresa, Bella and Sophie Nichols, Anne Marie, Tony and Anthony Liberati, who were her adopted families. Helen retired from Sears after 47 years of service to her many customers. She was a life-long and devoted member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church where she was very involved and volunteered for many of their activities. She was a member of the Golden Age Club and a social member of the Women’s Abruzzese Club. The family would like to thank Dr. Floyd and Dr. Stamato for their kind and loving care of Helen. Words cannot begin to express how much Helen will be missed. She filled our lives with her gentle, kind, loving and generous spirit. Funeral Services will be conducted Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 8:45 AM at the James V. DeMarco & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson, NY and continue at 9:30 AM in St. Mary of the Assumption Church where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the DeMarco & Son funeral Home Friday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
