Born and raised in Concord, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late Rene and Frida (Thiebaud) Bourquin.
Evie gave her time and energy to many community organizations, chief among them being First Presbyterian Church in Binghamton, now known as United Presbyterian. She served the church in numerous capacities over the years, including as a deacon, a member of the Stephen Ministry providing outreach to the church’s shut-in members, and as a member of the choir, and the bell choir. In addition to the church choir, Evie also sang with the Binghamton Choral Society, and enjoyed performing in their concerts.
In 1990 Meals on Wheels presented Evie with a plaque recognizing 25 years of service, and she continued delivering meals to those in need for many more years. Evie also volunteered at Planned Parenthood, and was treasurer of the Monday Afternoon Club.
Attention to detail was one of Evie’s most prominent traits, which showed in all her undertakings, but especially in her sewing and tailoring, and in her many embroidery and knitting projects. She especially enjoyed sharing these talents with her children.
She is survived by husband Ben, daughter Terry Noxel, Windsor, NY, daughter Michele Swan-Stafford (Fritz), Meridian, Idaho, and son Glenn Swan (Marcia), Ithaca, New York; sister, Ariane Sulzer, (Switzerland) and brother John Bourquin (Florida); three grandchildren, Matthew John Noxel, Katherine Michele Noxel, and Emerson Joy LaFaye; great-grandson, Martin Mullane, Jr. and numerous nieces and nephews.
