Shirley Ann Pell, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away on August 9, 2023, in Beverly Hills, FL. Born on April 13, 1935, in Grand Rapids, MI, she was the daughter of Ivan and Marie (Mishler) Rood. Shirley was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harvey Pell, her cherished daughter, Carolyn Ann Smith, her father, Ivan Rood, her mother, Marie (Mishler) Rood, her brother, Terry Rood, and her sister, Marion (Rood) Quillan.
Shirley's legacy lives on through her devoted children Diane (Robert) TenEyck of Greenville, Michigan, Colleen Penny of Burney, California, Donna (John) Fuller of Beverly Hills, Florida, Laurie Jo Hanson of New Port Richey, Florida, Kimberly (Pablo) Gorena of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Kenneth (Tonya) Saladin of Greenville, Michigan, Keith (Brenda) Saladin of Cedar Springs, Michigan, along with her brothers Jack (Arlene) Rood of Phoenix, Arizona and Jerry (Julie) Rood of Ocala, Florida, and her sister Sue (Steve) Greenhoe of Orleans, Michigan. She leaves behind a beautiful tapestry of 19 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, all of whom were touched by her love and warmth.
Shirley was a woman of deep faith and was an active member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Beverly Hills, FL. She was also involved with the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, where she found a sense of community and purpose.
Before retiring to Florida, Shirley was the proud owner of Turk Lake Bar in Greenville, Michigan, where she created a welcoming environment for all who entered. She brought joy and camaraderie to her patrons, leaving behind cherished memories.
Shirley's zest for life was evident in her many passions. She enjoyed the thrill of hunting and fishing, the excitement of bingo and playing cards, and the occasional casino trip with friends. Her compassionate heart led her to volunteer at her church, where she tirelessly worked to help those less fortunate. She radiated kindness and selflessness, leaving a lasting impact on everyone she encountered.
A memorial service to celebrate Shirley's remarkable life will be held at Turk Lake Restaurant and Bar on Sunday, August 27th at 2pm, where friends and family will gather to share stories and pay their respects. Her spirit will forever be with us, a guiding light in our hearts.

We will forever cherish the love and memories shared with Shirley, a remarkable woman whose legacy of compassion and generosity will continue to inspire us all.
