On November 1, 2017 Rufus H NeSmith of Inglis, FL went home to be with his Savior after a brief illness at his home under the care of Hospice. Rufus was born in 1933 in Cochran, GA to Rufus S. NeSmith and Willie Bell Asbel NeSmith, one of 8 children. He served in the US Navy on LST-735 during the Korean War. After his service he started his own Refrigeration and Air Conditioning business in Broward County, Florida which he ran for 25 years. Upon retiring he relocated to Inglis, FL where he is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Norma.
Rufus is survived by his three children, Charles NeSmith of Frostproof, FL, Kenneth NeSmith of Pompano Beach, FL and Linda Spiddle of Crystal River, FL, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren along with two sisters, Quintine (Tina) Barnett of Lakeland, FL, Sybil Armstrong of Tampa, FL and his brother Jimmy NeSmith of Fitzgerald, GA.
He was a Master Mason with 60 years of service in the Grand Lodge of Florida. Rufus was also an active member of the Yankeetown Community Church where he sang in the choir and served his church family in many ways.
Rufus loved the Lord and was loved by many friends and acquaintances. He was always quick with a joke and would strike up a conversation with anyone who happened to be standing nearby. He will be missed by many in this community. In lieu of flowers the family would encourage donations to Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast. Services will be held at the Fero Funeral Home, 5955 N. Lecanto Hwy, Beverly Hills, FL on Monday November 6, 2017 with a viewing at 10:00am followed by a Masonic Memorial Service at 11:00am and entombment at 11:30. There will be a reception immediately following the services at the Yankeetown Community Church for family and friends.
