FITCH, Rita P. (Raymond) was born on August 16, 1916 in Cranberry Island, Maine and passed away on March 1, 2019 in Beverly Hills, Florida. She was the youngest of 13 children; 10 girls and 3 boys. Her parents were lobster fisherman. Rita raised her family in Rochester, New York. Rita worked as a mechanical assembler for 25 years at Eastman Kodak and 12 years at Xerox in Rochester, N.Y. She owned and operated a ceramic store in Webster, New York for 5 years. After retirement, Rita moved to Round Rock, Texas to be close to her family. After her husband, Bernard died she was employed at Cracker Barrel Round Rock Texas and then moved to Beverly Hills, Florida and transferring to Cracker Barrel in Ocala, Florida. She was the oldest Cracker Barrel employee at 99 years old. Retiring in 2017, she worked a total of 19 years at Cracker Barrel were she made many, many wonderful friends. Rita was a Life Member of the VFW Auxiliary and past President in Manchaca, TX. Rita’s hobbies included sewing, knitting, crocheting and reading novels. Danielle Steel was her favorite author. She has read every Danielle Steel book that has been written. Danielle Steel wrote her an autographed letter with a picture which she was very proud of. Rita was a very giving person and dearly loved by everyone. If Rita knew someone needed help she would be the first to offer whatever was needed. Her favorite charities were Shriners and St Jude Children’s Hospitals. Rita is predeceased by her two husbands, George Raymond (1969), and Bernard Fitch (1998), and sons Kenneth Raymond (1971) and Richard Raymond (2017). She is survived by her daughter, Jean Ann Wicks (Carl) and 5 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
