Peter Edward McGuire, 82, of Beverly Hills, and formally New York City and Co. Clare Ireland, passed away June 20, 2015 at Ocala Regional Hospital. Peter was born in Miltown Malbay, Co. Clare, Ireland on June 26, 1932. He is survived by his wife, Marianne; daughter, Ann Clare; sister-in-law, Mary; and many nieces and nephews. Peter was preceded by his parents, Patrick and Anne MacGuire; brothers, John, Sarsfield, and Michael; and sister, Mary. Peter was a seventh generation blacksmith. As a youth he rode in Point to Point horse races. He came to the US as a young man, working as a farrier in upstate New York and later the New York City area. Peter served in the 2D Engineer Battalion, US Army from 1958 to 1964. On April 5, 1960, Peter was presented with a gold plaque symbolizing his "sensitive, yet forceful, powerful, and exemplary conduct and harmonious relationship between the military and the civil populace." An excellent horseshoer, he shod horses for trainers Campo, Jerkins, and Sedlach. Pete then became a farrier for the NYC Mounted Police, and then went on to work for the NYC Dept. of Sanitation. He married Marianne Kosiorowski in Aug 1985, and their daughter, Ann Clare, was born Nov 1988. Peter was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, the Ancient Order of Hibernian, Irish American Club, and a founding member of the American Irish Club of West Citrus. Peter went back to visit his family in Ireland multiple times, and helped many of his nieces and nephews through school and start in their careers. The viewing will be on Mon, June 29 from 5pm-7pm at Fero Funeral Home in Beverly Hills. A funeral mass will be on Tue, June 30 at 9am at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, followed by burial at Florida National Cemetery, in Bushnell, FL. Peter was a beloved father, uncle & husband. A most giving man.
