MARY KATHLEEN "KAY" REWALT 84 of Washington, MI died suddenly and unexpectedly Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at her Florida residence. Kay was born March 14, 1938 in Mount Clemens, Michigan to the late Theodore and Marcella Anne (Ernst) Karmon.
Kay married John Louis Rewalt in Mount Clemens on July 2, 1960. She was an accomplished teacher and oversaw the pre-K program at Washington Elementary where she was affectionately known as "Miss Kay". Kay enjoyed golfing, playing cards, and good times with friends and family.
Kay is survived by her sons, David (Karen) Rewalt in Virginia and Daniel Rewalt in Michigan, her grandchildren, Parker and Payton, with whom she was very close and loved and adored, and her granddog, Digit, whom she spoiled with kindness and treats. Kay was predeceased by her loving husband John in 2011.
A memorial open house with hors d'oeuvres and beverages will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Lion's Club in Washington Michigan. Kay's ashes will be buried next to John's in St. Michael Cemetery in Richmond. Memorial donations may be directed to the Arbor Day Foundation or the University of Michigan Cancer Center.
