Born March 3, 1930, in Kalamazoo, MI, the daughter of Otto and Mary Buckholz, she moved to Beverly Hills, FL in 1987, where she lived until 2015 when she moved to Richmond, TX with her daughter.
Mary was a graduate of Western Michigan University, receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Education, and University of Michigan, receiving her Master’s Degree, also in Education. For 30 years, Mary worked in the Michigan Public School system, as a teacher for the first 15 years, and as a substitute teacher the remainder of the time.
She was a member of Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Beverly Hills for 28 years, a member of Knights of Columbus Women’s Auxiliary, and a member of the Beverly Hills Women’s Golf League.
Mary loved watching college sports, and especially her Michigan Wolverines football team. She enjoyed attending the theater and the regular vacations she took with her family.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Robert J. Beckman, and is survived by son, Dale Kevin Beckman; daughter Suzanne Marie Beckman; daughters-in-law Vicki Behling and Sally Wilkinson; granddaughters, Shelby Marie Beckman, Sherie Housholder and Jennifer Thompson; sister and brother-in-law, Suzanne and Fred Lockemann, as well as multiple generations of nieces and nephews, 11 great- grandchildren, and many loving friends.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, 10-01 from 4pm – 7pm at Fero Funeral Home, 5955 N. Lecanto Hwy., Beverly Hills, FL 34465. A Mass will be held on Friday, 10-02 at 10:15 am at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 6 Roosevelt Blvd., Beverly Hills, FL 34465 with the entombment to follow at Fero Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Beverly Hills, FL.
