Dominick was born on October 21, 1943 in Brooklyn, New York to Joseph and Vita Passalacqua. He attended Good Shepherd parochial school and James Madison High School in Brooklyn. He then attended the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia where he obtained his Baccalaureate of Science degree. He then went on to attend University of Bologna School of Medicine in Bologna, Italy. After obtaining his Doctorate of Medicine degree he returned to Brooklyn, New York where he trained at Long Island College Hospital. There he did his internship, medical residency and cardiology fellowship. In 1975, he married Bernadette Bacotti, a neonatal critical care nurse at Long Island College Hospital. In 1977 Bernadette gave birth to a son, Dominick J Passalacqua, who they lovingly referred to as D.J. In 1979, they moved to Crystal River, Florida where he opened his cardiology practice and had the honor of being the first practicing cardiologist in Citrus County, Florida, and the honor of implanting the first pacemaker in Citrus County.
In 2006, he and his wife moved to Citrus Hills, Florida. He had been a long standing member of the American College of Cardiology, the American Heart Association and the American College of Physicians. He enjoyed ballroom dancing, golf and spending time with friends. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Angelic Passalacqua, his son Dominick J. Passalacqua and his beloved wife Bernadette. He is survived by his sister Lucille Giammarinaro, cousins Louis Fontana, Marietta Azzaro Lucille Bazar and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Dominick will be held Sunday, March 12, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Fero Funeral Home with Crematory, 5955 North Lecanto Highway, Beverly Hills, FL 34465. A funeral mass will occur Monday, March 13, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Scholastica, 4301 W Homosassa Trail, Lecanto, FL 34461. Entombment will occur Monday, March 13, 2023 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Fero Memorial Gardens, 5891 North Lecanto Highway, Beverly Hills, FL 34465.
