Darrell was born in Frozen Run, Calhoun County, West Virginia on November 18, 1941, the son of the late Erman Gus Robinson and Edna Jane (Rogers) Robinson. He grew up in West Virginia and Western Pennsylvania where he met and married the love of his life, Leah Dawn (Snyder) Robinson. They were married for 56 years at the time of her passing in 2016. After serving in the United States Navy, he and Leah moved to Connecticut to raise their family and then to Florida when they retired.
Darrell worked for United Technologies’ Pratt & Whitney division in North Haven, Connecticut for 37 years until his retirement in 1998. Darrell and Leah and their family were members of Grace United Methodist Church in Southington, Connecticut and later Hernando United Methodist Church in Inverness, Florida. He was a life-long dog-lover, a carpenter, and an avid antique car enthusiast. He enjoyed country music and collected trains and antique clocks. Most of all, Darrell was an adoring and devoted husband, a loving father and a very proud grandfather.
Darrell is survived by his two daughters, Lesa Robinson Rudolph of Homosassa Springs, Melanie Robinson of Beverly Hills, grandson, Reid Rudolph of Summerfield, nieces and nephews Jodi Borkowski (Michael) of South Carolina, Heidi Johnson (Michael) and Robert Robinson (Alicia), all of Connecticut, Gerald Robinson Jr. (Jodi) of Pennsylvania and Shon Robinson of Ohio, and several grand nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his wife, Darrell was predeceased by a son, Scott Gregory Robinson and brothers and sisters-in-law Ernest and Nancy Robinson and Gerald and Jane Robinson.
