Charles “Charlie” Powell, 74 of Dunnellon, Florida, died on Thursday, January 4, 2018. He was born in Lakeland, Florida on Tuesday, November 23, 1943 to Charles Arthur and Julia Mae (Bryant) Powell. Charlie was a retired insurance salesman and enjoyed fishing, playing baseball, golf and tennis along with taking walks with his wife Renae. Charlie attended grammar school in Lakeland Florida and graduated from Key West High School where he loved to play football. In 1954 Charlie, Boog, Carl and his lifelong friend Chuck Heddon played in the Little League World Series. Charlie met Renae in 1963 and they were married shortly after. They were married 54 years as of December 26th, 2017.
Charlie was preceded in death by his beloved son, Nathan Charles Powell.
Survivors include his loving wife, Karen Renae (Cheek) Powell of Dunnellon, Florida; daughter, Darla Julia Powell of Homestead, FL; brothers, John Wesley “Boog” Powell, Richard Bryant Powell and Carl Taylor as well as father-in-law, William F. “Bill” Cheek; brother-in-law, Mark William Cheek, along with his extended family and friends.
Visitation is Monday, January 8, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Fero Funeral Home. Graveside Service will follow at Fero Memorial Gardens.
