Amelia V. Pfeiffer, 81 of Beverly Hills, Florida passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 in the loving care of her family and Hospice of Citrus County. Amelia was born in Palisades Park, New Jersey on Saturday. August 9, 1930 to Salvatore and Celeste (Valentino) Viola. Amelia graduated with her Bachelor's Degree from Kean College in New Jersey and was a Special Education teacher. She was instrumental in championing for the placement of handicap ramps throughout the United States and was named Mother of the Year in the 1950's in New Jersey for her dedication and devotion to the physically challenged. She and her husband, Edward petitioned and campaigned for the building of the Veteran's medical complex in Lecanto, Florida. She was very patriotic and would be the first to 'stand up' and remind others to do so, for the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of the National Anthem. She was of the Catholic faith and a member of Our Lady of Grace.
Amelia's husband, Edward W. Pfeiffer preceded her in death on December 29, 2006 and brothers, Joseph and Edward Viola.
Survivors include her sister, Alba V. Davidson and husband Kenneth of Aurora, Colorado; brother, Ralph Viola and many Nieces and Nephews.
Visitation, Friday, October 7, 2011 from 1:00 P.M. to 2:30 P.M. with a Chapel Service following at Fero Funeral Home. Interment will be private at the Florida National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Citrus County.
