She was born July 19, 1936 in Gould, Oklahoma to Bert and Mildred Sampson.
Sylvia was a proud graduate of OSU and received her master’s degree at OU.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who loved spending time with her family and cheering on the Cowboys.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Thane Nelson.
She is survived by her children, Lynne and Keith Beam, and Nancy Beam; grandchildren, Kyle and Susanna (Stamile) Beam, Rebecca and Nicholas Link, Jamie Beam and Robin Beam; great granddaughter, Vivienne Beam; brother, Jim and Barbara Sampson; as well as other family members and dear friends.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the OSU Foundation General Scholarship Fund (20-24400), PO Box 1749, Stillwater, OK 74076, include in memo line, in memory of Sylvia Sampson Nelson.
The family will be having a private Celebration of Life.
