Naomi “Ruth” Brown, age 90, went to be with Jesus on Tuesday, July 12, 2022. She was born September 5, 1931 in Fox, Oklahoma to Enoch and Emma (James) Woods. She grew up during the depression and was the youngest of several children. When she was in high school, her family moved to Oklahoma City and she graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1949. Ruth was raised in the Nazarene church and was a beautiful and spiritual Christian. She raised 3 boys and would read the bible with them every night and pray with each one of them. Having divorced at a young age, and with 3 children to provide for, she relied on her values instilled by her parents: hard work, tenacity, faith, prayer, and love. Ruth worked for various places and retired from Hartford Insurance Company at the age of 65. She then volunteered for Frontier hospice for the next 14 years. Ruth was a selfless and giving woman who greatly enjoyed her family and her dear friends. She will be missed by all she left behind, but the family takes comfort that they will see her again.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 8 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Rodne Brown, Mark and Jeannie Brown, and Byron and Dana Brown; grandchildren, Robert and Leah Brown, Frank and Anna Carr, Aaron Brown, Brianna Brown, and Austin Brown; great grandchildren, Robby Brown, Zane Brown, Elsie Brown, Caleb Carr, and Max Carr; as well as numerous other family members and friends.
Services will be 10am Monday, July 18, 2022 at Bill Merritt Funeral Service with a private interment at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
The family invites you to join them for a luncheon immediately following the service.
