She was well known for her love of country music. She was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. Rosetta was born in a house on a farm 15 miles South East of Waynoka, Okla. on Aug. 19, 1926 to Ella and Samuel McDowell. There were eight children Earl, Frankie, Sam, Bill, Violet, Evelyn, Alvin and me, Rosetta. I rode a horse for chores, herded turkeys carried water for house and turkeys, gathered eggs, and we didn't have running water. I enjoyed riding the horse, and playing with cats and dogs. I enjoyed our fruit trees; apple, peach, pear, mulberry and plum bushes fruit. I went to grade school at Twin Oaks Country School ,one room School House I walked 2 and a Half miles to and from school. Evelyn and Alvin were going by bus to Cheyenne Valley High School in Major County, so my mother made arrangements for me to go to grade school by bus at Cheyenne so I didn't have to walk so far. Then the bridge went out on the 21 Crossing of the Cimarron River and Cheyenne didn't want to send a bus around Waynoka to pick us up so I started to Waynoka High School where I graduated. While I was going to school at Cheyenne Valley my father passed away. We were called home from school when I was 14 years old. He died from a ruptured artery in his stomach. When I was around 10 yrs. old we had a preacher that conducted revival services at Twin Oaks one room school house…I think his name was Rev. John Baxter but I’m not sure. There were several that committed their lives to Jesus Christ. Later there was a Baptismal at Armor's Farm in their pond just north of the Cimarron River close to the 21 Crossing. I was Baptized along with several others. After High School Graduation I moved to Alva and roomed with Evelyn and worked at a drug store as a soda jerk. After a short while I went to Pavelec's Beauty Academy where I graduated and went to Cherokee, Okla. to work where they were needing operators. Soon after I started working the manager of the beauty shop retired and another person was the manager and she got married and sold the shop to a barber who said he would buy the shop and move it behind his barber shop if I would manage it so I did and it was named Rosetta's Beauty Shop. I started going to the Methodist Church where Don was at Sunday School. One of my customers said “I saw you talking to Don Womack he would be a good catch for you”. I joined the Methodist Church in Cherokee where Don was a member. Don called me for a date and I accepted the rest is history. Don invited me to a Cordell Ball at OSU Stillwater, Okla. and I accepted and while I was there, Don gave me my engagement ring. Don graduated and we were married at his mothers and step dad’s house, Gertrude and Hob Jay. Rozella Womack at that time played the piano and Mary Frye and Alvin McDowell were my attendants. Mary Frye worked with me in the beauty shop. We took the bus to Enid, Okla. And the snow was piled high on each side of the road. We borrowed a car from Don's dad that lived in Enid to move Don from Stillwater to Enid. For our Honey Moon we moved Don's merchandise from Stillwater to Enid where Don had a job to start to work for OGE the next morning. We rented a apartment from Bob and Doreen Grounds who remained friends always. We joined the First Methodist Church where I taught 2nd grade Sunday School for awhile. We belonged to the Rebecca and Odd Fellow Lodge where we met and were life friends of Bea and John Mackey. They were our Son’s God Parents. I was Cub Scout Den Mother. We rented 4 different places before we bought our home at 2002 Meadow Brook Drive in Enid. While we were their our 3 Son's were born. Terry had Polio. Thanks to a wonderful Dr. and the Lord he wasn't crippled. The Dr. said his case was bad but because they started the right treatment early he wasn’t crippled. A few year's later Terry got encephalitis again we had a wonderful Dr.Waldo Newell said he didn't know if Terry would live through the night or be severely handicapped but the Dr. stayed with him and kept him doctored. Terry graduated as an Electric Engineer from OU. What a blessing. We moved to Beverly in Enid so we could have more room and the same year Don was transferred to Okla. City with OGE a promotion. We have lived at this address 54 yrs. 3609 NW 65th St In Oklahoma City. We joined Grace United Methodist Church and was member for 50 yrs and Chapel Hill United Methodist about 4 yrs. While at Grace I was United Methodist Women Chairmen for 2 years. I took Disciple courses 1,2,3, and 4 also Christian Believers and Jesus and the Gospels. Each course was from Sept. to May 2 hours a week meeting plus studying for each course. My hobby was crocheting around one yard of flannel for receiving blankets for babies. I have probably made one hundred and fifty. I enjoyed traveling I joined a travel club and I have been to New Zealand where I met relatives also Australia, North West Canada two times North East Canada two times Old Mexico, Alaska, and Hawaii also many places with in the USA. We owned a motor Home and had membership at a resort at Grove Okla. at Grand Lake Pine Island. We took our boat and the children water skied, tubed and swam. Also during my time I had a opportunity to attend Terry and Christine, Garry and Jan's, Garry and Lynda’s, Jerry’s and Debbie's, and Debbie and Drew's and Garry Jr. and Selvi's, and Cody and Callie's weddings. Also, an opportunity to get to have fun with my grandchildren Garry Jr., Debbie, Alicia and Cody and great-grandson Sheppard.
