Robert “Bob” Lynn Cain was born in Shattuck, Oklahoma on November 1, 1924 to Ode and Minnie Cain. His family moved to Shamrock, Texas shortly after his birth where he remained until his return home from World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Norma, and his two brothers, Bill and B.F. Cain. He is survived by his three children, Julie Stroem, Michael Cain and Rebecca McCormack. He has four grandchildren, Sheila Clifton, Jennifer Cruce, Michael Joe Dillard and James Cain. He has seven great-grandchildren. Bob served in the U.S. Navy on the destroyer the USS Maury in World War II and married Norma Lee Johnson from Swifton, Arkansas upon his return home. He began his career in refrigeration and air conditioning starting his own business in the 1950’s known as Cain’s Refrigeration. He began his own trade school in Oklahoma City in 1964 called Sooner Mechanical Trade School. He sold this business and retired in 1983 when he and Norma began traveling the US in their motorhome. He was also known as “the meter man” after creating a meter to help other boat owners and RV owners with refrigeration problems. He and his entire family also enjoyed many wonderful years on their houseboat on Kerr Lake known as “The Big Mike”. Bob and his family were charter members of the Council Road Baptist Church. He remained a devout Christian and truly lived the Christian principles throughout his entire life. He was a selfless man giving to others unendingly and never expecting anything in return. His kindness and true love of his family will be greatly missed. As a member of “the greatest generation” he truly inspires all of us to be better people. Bob made our lives and our world a much softer and kinder place, and his loss is tremendous for all of us who loved him and knew him. Our beloved father was an unfortunate victim of Alzheimer’s disease and his family asks for donations to the Alzheimer’s organization in lieu of flowers to help battle this deadly disease.
