Margaret Ann Swanson was born Margaret Ann Penny, in Oklahoma City on June 2, 1934. She passed away in her sleep on April 3, 2023. Many loved ones and friends visited her in the days preceding her death.
Margaret lived most of her life in Oklahoma City. She graduated from Classen High School, having participated in several musical productions and social organizations.
Margaret married Marion Schug while attending college at Oklahoma State University. When her children were old enough to attend school, Margaret decided to complete her education, earning a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Central Oklahoma and a Masters in Reading Education from Southern Nazarene University. She taught 3rd grade at Rollingwood Elementary and 5th grade at Overholser Elementary.
After several years of widowhood, Margaret married Howard Swanson. Upon retirement from teaching, Margaret and Howard spent many years as avid travelers. Trips with various Motor Home traveling clubs occupied their time. Later, they bought a vacation property in Nathrop, CO, and spent many happy summers in the mountains.
Margaret was always active in her church, serving as a Deacon and an Elder. Always a teacher, Margaret strove to make the child daycare facility at the Church of the Savior the best it could be.
