Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery, 7801 Northwest Expressway in Oklahoma City, for Leslie “Charles” Phillips, 79, of Warr Acres. Charles was born March 25, 1941, in Guthrie, Oklahoma to Robert B. and Ada V. (Bailey) Phillips, and passed away Wednesday, January 6, 2021, in Oklahoma City. Charles was raised in Guthrie where he formed many lifelong friendships. The Guthrie High School Class of 1959 was always close to his heart, and Charles enjoyed meeting his classmates in Guthrie for lunch and attending class reunions. After graduating high school Charles dedicated himself to working his way through college, a commitment that directly inspired family members to do the same. Charles graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and economics from Central State College (UCO) in 1968, and went on to work in several administrative positions before retiring from the role of employee benefits supervisor for Fleming Companies in Oklahoma City. In retirement Charles enjoyed spending time with his dogs Bailey and Buddy, working on his house and yard, following current events, and being active on social media. A citizen of the Chickasaw Nation, Charles was proud of his ancestry and maintained an interest in genealogy for the past several years. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Robert B. (RB) Phillips, Jr., of Guthrie and Elmer Hill Phillips of Alma, Arkansas, and his sisters Wynona L. (Phillips) McPherren and Naldia V. (Phillips) Blair, both of Guthrie. Charles is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, friends and extended family
