Julia Latham passed away Saturday, June 16, at the age of 88. Her son, daughter and daughter-in-law were at her side. She was born Julia Telowicz in St. Louis, Mo. on July 21, 1923 of immigrant parents. When Julia was five her family moved to Harrah, Ok. where she grew up with brothers, A.J. and Paulin. After graduating high school, she attended, and graduated from Hill’s Business School in Oklahoma City.
She married Fred G. Latham, Sr., of Oklahoma City on October 19, 1943 and worked alongside him in their retail grocery stores for many years. After his death in 1982, and for 22 years, she was a full-time volunteer at Mercy Hospital. Julia was also very active in competitive ballroom dancing, winning numerous awards. She was loving, gracious and generous; always supportive of her family. She loved to laugh and she loved to help others.
Julia is survived by her son, Larry Latham and wife, Kelly Reynolds of Broken Arrow; daughter, Susan Pollock and husband, Alan, of Edmond; brother A.J. Telowicz and wife Tomiko of Midwest City; niece, Irene Christian and husband Gary of Midwest City, and nephew Richard Telowicz and wife Chris of Edmond.
To all who knew her, there will never be another like her.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 22, 2012 at the Chapel at Resurrection Cemetery, Oklahoma City. Viewing will be from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00p.m. Thursday, June 21st at Bill Merritt Funeral Home, 6201 N.W. 39th Expressway, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
