James L. Rowell, “Jim” passed away peacefully Friday morning in Oklahoma City, OK. James was the first born son and second child of five children born to James and Bronte Rowell in August, 1926, in Grove Oak, Alabama. His family later moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He attended Putnam City schools and served in the Navy during WWII where he obtained his GED. Later he went back to school where he studied refrigeration and HVAC. For many years he was in the service business until around 1959 when he went to work as a Sales Engineer for Comfort, Inc. where he retired. During his employment at Comfort, Inc. he earned several trips to many different countries which he and his wife enjoyed very much. Jim was a long time member of Putnam City Baptist church and attended Westminster Church before moving to Legend at Council Road. Jim married the love of his life Ella Mae in 1946 in Oklahoma City. He is survived by his three children, Stan (Becky) Rowell, Brad (Sue) Rowell and Becky (Mark) Voth and his sister Ima Jean Thornton (Rocky). He had six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ella and grandson, Jason.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Legend at Council Road for providing a loving atmosphere for the last few years of Jim’s life. Services will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Resurrection Memorial Chapel at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
