Fred David Singleton, 84, went home to be with his Savior March 18, 2021. Fred was born February 24, 1937 in Kansas City, MO to Clinton and Anna Singleton. He married his high school sweetheart, Helen Dolezal, on September 3, 1960 in El Reno, Oklahoma. They shared 60 years of marriage together. Fred graduated from El Reno High School in 1955. He attended the University of Oklahoma where he earned a degree in Business Advertising in 1959. He also served in the Oklahoma Air National Guard from 1959 to 1965. He worked for the Clinton Daily News and the El Reno Tribune until he bought the Oklahoma Retailer Publishing Company in 1961 at the age of 24 and owned it 49 years. He was a long-time member of Our Lord’s Community Church. He enjoyed going to church, teaching Sunday School, taking cruises, watching sports, especially OU football and reading. He will be remembered for his calm demeanor, words of wisdom, his Faith in Jesus, knowledge of the Bible and having the best one liners. Fred is preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Anna Singleton and his wife, Helen Singleton. He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Shannon Singleton and wife Georgia of Colorado Springs, CO; daughter Shona Schoettle and husband, Mike of Haymarket, VA; grandchildren, Toby, Tyler, Katie, and Brendon; sister in law Dolores Williams; as well as many nieces and nephews.
