Elmer “J. R.” Hill went to be with his Lord on July 3, 2022 at the age of 96. J.R. was born March 29, 1926 in Geary, OK to Charles and Della Cole Hill. He graduated from Minco High school in 1944. After graduation he joined the US Navy and served for 3 years. Upon discharge from the Navy he began his 30 year career with Cal Gas. While with Cal Gas he delivered propane to customers, all hours of the day and night and all seasons of the year, hot or freezing cold. He retired around 1977. He and his late wife, Exicen, moved to Oklahoma City in 1989 and became active members in Kelham Baptist Church. J.R. was a thoughtful gift giver. He remembered birthdays and special occasions and loved spreading joy to his family and friends. He also was a big fan of NASCAR, golf and OU sports. J. R. was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his 2 sons, Larry and Lanny, grandson, Dustin, brother, Delmar, sister, Edna Gordon and step-son, Eddie Eddington and 2 step-grandsons, Derrick and Jody Eddington and great granddaughter, Sailor Hill. He is survived by his daughters, Peggy Eilrich and Connie McBride and husband, John, 4 grandchildren, Casey Hill and wife, Heather, Steve and Paul Bishop and Mark Eilrich and Shelly Eddington, 8 great grandchildren as well as many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 11, 2022 at 10:00 AM at the Kelham Baptist Church with burial following at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
