Dorothy "Dottie" Hall

Dorothy Jane Carriker Hall was born in Concord, North Carolina on May 9, 1926. She was the daughter of Alpha Layfette Carriker, and Annie Gaines Taylor Carriker. Dottie passed away July 9, 2022 and is survived by her daughter Laura Hall, daughter-in law Becky Hall, grandson Matthew Hall and fiance Danielle Driscoll, step-daughter Emma Driscoll, granddaughter Katie Hall Ruffin and husband Daniel Ruffin, sister-in law Jane Hall, niece Pamela Jackson, great-nephew Robert Jackson, great- niece Caroline Hankins, nephew Bobby Woods and wife Jun Wang, niece Ginny Murphy, great-nephews Ryan Murphy, and Chris Murphy, wife Haley Murphy and their four children. Dottie is preceded in death by her father Alpha Layfette Carriker, mother Annie Gaines Taylor Carriker, husband Earl Wayne Hall, and son Gregory Wayne Hall.

Dottie grew up at the Stonewall Jackson Training School where her parents were the cottage parents to boys living at the school. Upon graduating from High School, Dottie left to study at Duke University to pursue her dream of becoming a Flight Nurse with the military. While at Duke, Dottie met her husband Wayne Hall and they were soon married and moved to Oklahoma City. Dottie and Wayne were married in 1947 and soon had their daughter Laura and son Greg. In 1979, Dottie completed her associates degree in nursing. She soon began her dream career as a nurse, working for twenty-two years on the IV team at Deaconess Hospital. Dottie was devoted to performing quality care for her patients, and was deeply passionate about her life’s work as a nurse.

Dottie was a devoted wife, mother, grand-mother, daughter, and friend. She was an active member for 43 years at Covenant Community Church, attending several bible studies and church groups. Dottie had several hobbies including: writers club, sewing, traveling, gardening, and baking her famous chocolate chip cookies. Dottie self-published her own memoir of her life and enjoyed writing poetry.

Dottie will be known for her prayerful and gentle spirit, her daily walk with the Lord, and evident faith that was the cornerstone of her family.
