Our loving Mother and Oma, Doris Stone, age 79, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 13, 2021. She was one of 6 children and was born July 8, 1942 in Duisburg, Germany to August and Irene (Koch) Landers. Doris was raised in Germany until she was a young woman and had a fairy tale love story. She met the love of her life, Tom Stone, when he was stationed in Germany with the Air Force. They married 6 weeks later, in July of 1964, and he brought her home to the United States where she soon became a US Citizen. Doris was proud of her German heritage, but she loved America and the American Flag. She worked and retired from Orthopedic Associates as a bookkeeper. She was a longtime member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and was very active with the Women of St. Charles and helping to coordinate the funeral meals. She was also very active with the Dorothy Day Center. Doris and Tom loved kayaking across Lake Hefner, having a glass of wine, and kayaking back across. She was a lover of all animals. She would take in and care for the stray cats and foxes in her neighborhood; she adopted an adorable pelican at Lake Hefner which she named Charlie; and she loved her “bionic dachshund”, Amber, who she would take on walks around the lake. Most of all, she loved her family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Tom (Opa) Stone; sister, Jutta Engle; and an infant brother. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Beckie and Carter Cooper; grandchildren, Ashley and husband Ryan Fogle, Roy Thomas Cooper, and Carter Cooper II; great grandchild, Finn Fogle; 3 sisters, Renate Lӧsken, Brigitte Knoblauch, and Romy Dyrdek; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and church family. A Memorial Service will be held 10am Saturday, July 17, 2021 at St. Charles Borromeo Church and will be livestreamed at https://www.facebook.com/stcharlesokc/. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Doris’ name to the Oklahoma Humane Society at https://okhumane.org/donate.
