Della Lee Maloney was a beloved grandmother, mother, and wife during her 92 years of life. She passed away peacefully in the early hours of Thursday March 17, 2022. She was born on December 10, 1929 in Hattieville, Arkansas to Delbert Lee and Berdie (Pack) Meeks. Della and her sisters were raised by their parents in Arkansas until they rode their horse and buggy through the river to Oklahoma making it their new home. She married her husband Billy and they had five children. Della worked at Deaconess Hospital on the maternity floor and in the nursey as a nurse assistant. Della was known for her tomato and chocolate gravy and homemade dinner rolls. She was very talented and made and painted the most beautiful ceramic pieces and wooden yard figures for those she loved. Della collected Precious Moment figurines and often made beautiful quilts and Afghan blankets. On any given weekend you would find Della’s grandchildren at her home for a big sleep over with lots of pillows and blankets all over the living room floor. Della had the honor of playing an important role in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchild by watching them as their parents worked. Della’s face would light up when talking about her memories watching them. Della was very interested in genealogy and spent hours researching her family history. Della was a member of First Baptist Church of Bethany. She volunteered making meals and blankets out of plastic sacks for the homeless. Della was a member of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her daughter Eileen Hoffman and husband Ron, daughter Lu Ann Phelps, and son Daryl Maloney and wife Gia. Della is also survived by her grandchildren Bryan Gray and wife Teri, Bridget Carr and husband Kyle, Gabriel Christy, Amy Christy, Todd Christy, Tommy Dixon III, Lieutenant Colonel Amos Fox, Lance Earl, Erin Maloney, and Jenna Maloney as well as great-grandchildren Bryson Gray, Tyler Gray, Landen Carr, Lane Carr, Allison Carr, Paulette Christy, Byron Christy, Annalise Christy, Elizabeth Fox, Caroline Fox, and Phoenix Fox. She was preceded in death by her husband Billy Maloney, son Tony “Mike” Maloney, daughter Laura Maloney, parents Delbert Lee and Berdie (Pack) Meeks, sister Iva Ruth Story, sister Elwanda Meeks, great-grandson Abrams Fox and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. We will miss Della dearly, but we are so grateful for the time we had to spend with her. We will always feel her presence in our hearts.
