Bradley John Briggs, age 48, passed away on February 10, 2023 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, he was the son of Michael and Mary Briggs. He was a 1993 graduate of Putnam City High School. He was a 3 year starter in football at quarterback and defensive back as well as a 3 year starter at point guard in basketball, leading the Pirates to the 5A State Basketball Tournament in 1992. He attended the University of Central Oklahoma, where he participated in spring football drills prior to the 1994 season. He later served in the United States Army, earning the rank of Specialist. While in the Army, he was stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado, from where he was deployed and completed two tours of duty in Afghanistan. Brad also enjoyed music, and played bass in the Oklahoma City-based band Jack The Mother Ship in the 1990s. He was a natural-born entertainer, and he will be remembered most by his family, friends, team-mates, and fellow soldiers for his laugh, quick wit, and storytelling that could own any room. He will also be remembered for his kindness to all in his path, and his desire to make sure everyone around him felt loved and appreciated will not soon be forgotten. He is survived by his parents; sister Amy of Irving, Texas, and brother Bryon of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is also survived by a large extended family of Uncles, Aunts, cousins, and lifelong friends who loved and will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his Grandparents, Kenneth and Viola Briggs of Oklahoma City, and Robert Sr. and Voneita Bartlett of Arkansas City, Kansas. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 18th at 10:00 am at Bill Merritt Funeral Home, 6201 NW 39th Expressway, Oklahoma City, OK 73008. Viewing/visitation will be held from 2-7 pm on Friday, February 17th. Interment will follow a graveside service on Monday, February 20th at 10 am at Memorial Lawn Cemetery, 24547 61st Road, Arkansas City, Kansas 67005.
