Billy “Lynn” Lawson, age 89, passed away Monday, April 14, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Lynn was born February 3, 1936 in Fort Supply, Oklahoma to William Jasper and Martha Ellen Jane Lawson. After graduating from high school, he went on to attend the University of Oklahoma and then Northwestern University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. He began his career as a history teacher and basketball coach. After that, his entrepreneurial spirit took over and he had a hand in owning many businesses over the years before working for American Airlines, from which he retired, where he worked on the ground crew.
Lynn married Sharon Laughman in Wichita Falls in 1985 and blended their families into one. Lynn was a hardworking man who enjoyed taking care of those around him. He enjoyed traveling, both in the United States and abroad, especially Germany. Lynn was supportive and kind and was loved by so many and will be deeply missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Elbert Lawson, Gordon Lawson, and Gary Lawson.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Lawson; children, Mark Lynn Lawson, Marci Lynne Williamson and husband Tom, and Timothy Todd Lawson; step-children, Stephen Douglas Lewis and wife Donnie, Jayme Layne Lewis-Moore and husband Russell; grandchildren, Brandy Femat and husband Guillermo, Kala Lawson and Riley Lawson; step-grandchildren, Chelsea Lewis and Courtney Lewis-Siemers and husband Aaron; as well as 8 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be 2pm Saturday, May 10, 2025 at Bill Merritt Funeral Service.
